Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the master’s degree, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be made for candidates of Gujarat belonging to reserved or differently abled categories.Candidates appearing in the final year examination may be allowed to appear in the PET examination, but the final admission process for such qualified candidates will depend on the production of a valid document for their minimum qualification at the time of admission.For Part-Time Ph.D. at IAR students must be present at IAR for at least 90 days within the year in addition to the Course work duration.Ph.D. program in part-time mode shall be for a minimum duration of 4 years. (The other guidelines related to Part-Time Ph.D. will be similar as indicated in UGC Regulation 2016 for Regular Ph.D. students).If a Part-Time Ph.D. student is an employee of some organization, they must have to produce the Consent and No. Objection Certificate from the Employer at the time of the application of Ph.D. program at IAR Gandhinagar.

IAR Gandhinagar Details
The Institute of Advanced Research provides many scholarships to the meritorious and needy aspirants. IAR Gandhinagar scholarships are Financial Assistance and Merit Scholarship Scheme. Candidates may be eligible for Institute of Advanced Research scholarships such as the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojna. To qualify, students must have secured a minimum of 80% marks in their 10+2 examinations and be enrolled in a full-time programme at IAR Gandhinagar, excluding B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD courses. Another requirement of this Institute of Advanced Research scholarship scheme is that candidates’ annual family income should be less than Rs. 2 lakhs. For the Merit Scholarship Scheme, candidates should be pursuing undergraduate/postgraduate programmes, except B.Tech/M.Tech/M.B.A/Ph.D and must have scored more than 85% in 10+2 or more than 80% at graduation level. These include need-based and merit-based schemes with specific eligibility and performance criteria.

Government Scholarship: - Students from SEBC, SC, ST categories can avail of the scholarship facility provided by the State Government under Digital Gujarat Portal. Institute of Advanced Research helps the students to apply in the respective categories under Digital Gujarat Scholarship schemes. - Students from Minority Category can avail the facility of scholarship provided by the minority commission of Govt. of India. Institute of Advanced Research will publish the Circular received from the Central / State Government and will help the students to apply in National Portal Scholarship scheme from time to time. - Students, who fulfill the eligibility criteria of the MYSY scholarship, apply under Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) and receive the scholarship through the direct benefit of transfer. IAR provides necessary certificates to apply in MYSY Scheme.
