Eligibility: BSc-qualified candidates in any branch of biology, physics, or chemistry. The Ph.D./ Int. Ph.D. written test will also function as the written test for our M.Sc. program. The procedure for appearing for this test will be available on our website and on the NCBS website in September each year. The test will be held at centers all over India, held on a specific Sunday in December, for admission the following July. The test consists of multiple-choice questions covering *basics only* in physics, chemistry, math, biology. There is no guidebook and no syllabus. No special knowledge or preparation is required. Revise your basic that is all. The Interview will be based on whatever your BSc background is in, or whatever area you are most interested or most comfortable in.

TIFR Mumbai Details

TIFR Mumbai students get fellowships according to rules governed by DAE. Currently, TIFR Mumbai students get Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 28,000 per month for the students before and after the Ph.D. registration respectively. All the TIFR Mumbai scholarships come from DAE. Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Mumbai students can also apply for the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) Fellowship of CSIR. The initial qualification of students applying for TIFR Mumbai fellowships (integrated M.Sc. and Ph.D.) is graduates in basic science or graduate in professional courses. Whereas, for Ph.D., the initial qualification is postgraduate in basic science or graduate in professional courses.

Candidates are offered admissions at two levels at TIFR Mumbai: postgraduate and doctoral. TIFR Mumbai admissions are offered in the following branches: biology, chemistry, mathematics, astronomy, physics and computer science. TIFR Mumbai courses offered for admission are M.Sc. and Ph.D. Chemistry Integrated, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Astronomy and Astrophysics Integrated, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Nuclear and Atomic Physics Integrated, M.Sc.
