Who can apply
- A Bachelor of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from a recognised university. A law degree is listed as a preference, not a requirement.
- Two years' experience in a well-organised library after the degree.
- The state government's basic computer-knowledge certificate, and working English, Gujarati and Hindi.
- Age 21 to 37 on 20 October 2026. Women get 5 years' relaxation, candidates with benchmark disabilities 10 years; no one may go past 45 even with relaxations.
All 30 posts are unreserved
Every vacancy is in the general category: two are earmarked for women and two for persons with benchmark disabilities. SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates can still apply, against the general posts, and pay the lower fee. The posts are scattered one or two per court — Amreli, Aravalli, Porbandar, Surat, Kachchh, Patan, Navsari, Valsad and more — and you must rank three districts in your form. That choice cannot be changed later, and the High Court can post you elsewhere if merit and vacancies require it.
Fee and exam pattern
- Fee: ₹1,500 for general candidates; ₹750 for SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, ex-servicemen and candidates with disabilities. Paid through SBI e-Pay on HC-OJAS.
- Written exam: 100 one-mark MCQs in two hours, with 0.33 negative marking. It covers library science, English and Gujarati, general studies and reasoning, basic law and computer applications. You need 50% (45% for candidates with disabilities) to reach the interview.
- Viva-voce: 40 marks, with a 40% minimum. The final merit list adds both scores. The wait list is capped at 10% of the vacancies and stays valid for one year.
Before you apply: get an experience certificate that shows two full years after your B.Lib.I.Sc. — the High Court asks for the experience certificate along with your other originals when it calls you.
