NEET UG round 3: 5,480 MBBS seats are clearly vacant — choices lock at noon on 28 September
MCC has published the round-3 seat lists. The clear vacancy list has 5,480 MBBS, 597 BDS and 114 B.Sc. Nursing seats; the virtual list runs to 9,629 MBBS. 183 seats are brand new this round. Registration closes at 3 pm on 27 September.
The Medical Counselling Committee has put up the seat lists for round 3 of the all-India NEET UG counselling. We counted them row by row.
How many seats
- Clear vacancy — seats nobody holds right now: 5,480 MBBS, 597 BDS and 114 B.Sc. Nursing.
- Virtual vacancy — the clear seats plus those expected to be freed when round-3 upgrades move people on: 9,629 MBBS, 985 BDS and 194 B.Sc. Nursing.
- Newly added for this round: 183 seats — a new 100-seat BDS intake at Datta Meghe Dental College, Nagpur (deemed), 50 MBBS at Vinayaka Missions Medical College, Karaikal (deemed), and smaller all-India quota additions at the government medical colleges in Ahilyanagar (15), Agartala (8), Pithoragarh and Silvassa.
Read the virtual list, not just the clear one. A seat that looks taken today may open the moment the person holding it upgrades — and round 3 is where the largest share of those movements happen.
The round-3 clock
- Registration and payment: until 3 pm on 27 September for registration; payment until 6 pm the same day.
- Choice filling: open since 23 September, until 12 noon on 28 September.
- Choice locking: from 7 pm on 27 September to 12 noon on 28 September.
- Seat allotment processing: 28–29 September. Result: 30 September.
- Reporting: 1 to 9 October.
All times are server time. If you are carrying a round-2 seat into round 3, know what an upgrade does: if you are allotted a new seat, your earlier seat is released automatically and you cannot go back to it. Fill only choices you would genuinely take over the seat you hold.
