Erasmus Mundus 2027: scholarship rounds are open, worth €1,400 a month with no tuition. Mundus MAPP closes 1 December, NOHA 15 December
Joint master’s programmes funded by the EU are taking applications for courses that start in 2027. A scholarship pays €1,400 a month for up to 24 months and the consortium cannot charge you tuition. Each programme sets its own deadline: Mundus MAPP closes on 1 December 2026 and NOHA on 15 December 2026.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are taking applications for courses that begin in 2027. These are one- or two-year master’s degrees run jointly by groups of universities in at least two European countries, and the European Union funds full scholarships for the top-ranked applicants from any country, India included. The EU’s Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) lists more than 200 such programmes in its catalogue and says most of them take applications between October and January. Two that have published dates for the 2027-29 intake close their scholarship rounds on 1 December and 15 December 2026.

What the scholarship pays
The rules are set in the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme Guide:
- €1,400 a month for the full length of the course (12, 18 or 24 months). For a two-year master’s, that is up to €33,600. It is meant to cover travel, visa, settling-in and living costs.
- The consortium cannot charge tuition fees or other compulsory participation costs to a scholarship holder, and it cannot charge any student an application fee.
- The scholarship is for full-time study only and is paid in full or not at all.
- You can hold an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship only once in your life.
- No more than 10% of a programme’s scholarships can go to one nationality, so Indian applicants compete with each other for a limited share.
Two deadlines already published
| Programme | Scholarship deadline | In India time | Results |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mundus MAPP (public policy), 2027-29 cohort | 1 December 2026, 23:59 CET | 4:29 am, 2 December | 14 April 2027 |
| NOHA (international humanitarian action), 2027-29 cohort | 15 December 2026, 23:59 GMT | 5:29 am, 16 December | Joint admissions board, after the deadline |
Mundus MAPP is a two-year master’s in public policy run by Central European University with IBEI Barcelona, the University of York and the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. It wants a three-year bachelor’s with at least an upper second class (social sciences preferred). Graduates in natural sciences or engineering are not eligible. Indian applicants need TOEFL iBT 95 or IELTS Academic 7 unless their degree qualifies them for a waiver. There is no separate scholarship form: you tick a box on the admission form. Without a scholarship the fee is €13,000 a year.
NOHA is a two-year, 120-credit master’s in humanitarian action across universities including Groningen, Uppsala, University College Dublin, Bochum, Deusto and Warsaw. For the 2027-29 intake it offers 8 scholarships for applicants from partner countries such as India, besides others for European and targeted regions. It accepts bachelor’s degrees in fields such as medicine, economics, engineering, law, social sciences and humanities, and asks for IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0. Scholarship applicants must have graduated before 15 December and upload every document by then.
What to do now
- Search the Erasmus Mundus catalogue on the EACEA site by subject, then open each programme’s own website. Each consortium sets its own deadline, documents and English score.
- Book IELTS or TOEFL now if you do not have a valid score. Some programmes want the result before the deadline.
- Get your degree certificate, transcripts and two reference letters ready. Final-year students should check whether the programme accepts a provisional certificate; NOHA does not, for the scholarship.
- Apply to more than one programme. Selection is competitive and the 10% nationality limit applies in each.
