About SNAP

SNAP is the gateway to the MBA programmes of the roughly sixteen constituent B-schools of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), led by SIBM Pune and SCMHRD — two institutes whose placements rival many IIMs, particularly in marketing and HR. The test is unusual among national MBA exams for its brevity: 60 questions in 60 minutes across General English, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative/DI/Data Sufficiency, making it a pure speed test where a one-minute-per-question budget leaves no room for grinding through long sets.

Symbiosis softens the single-day risk by offering up to three test sessions each December: candidates may register for one, two or all three attempts, and the highest score is used for shortlisting. Marking is +1 per correct answer with -0.25 negative marking and no sectional cut-off mechanics, so attempt strategy and accuracy dominate. After the score-based shortlist, each institute runs its own GE-PIWAT process (group exercise, personal interaction and writing ability test), and final merit blends SNAP score with these assessments.

A practical quirk aspirants should budget for: SNAP registration and each institute/programme application carry separate fees, so a serious Symbiosis campaign across multiple institutes and attempts costs meaningfully more than most single-exam applications. SNAP difficulty is below CAT's, but percentile competition for SIBM Pune and SCMHRD remains fierce — the compact format means a handful of errors can shift percentiles sharply.

Accepted by: Symbiosis International (Deemed University) institutes only — including SIBM Pune, SCMHRD, SIIB, SIBM Bengaluru/Hyderabad/Nagpur/Noida, SICSR, SITM and SIOM (15+ constituent institutes)
