NIFT Entrance ExamNational Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE)
About NIFT Entrance Exam
The NIFT entrance examination is the single national gateway to India's twenty NIFT campuses, conducted through the National Testing Agency. Design aspirants (B.Des and M.Des) write two papers: the computer-based General Ability Test — an objective paper (bilingual Hindi/English) spanning quantitative, verbal, logical and general-awareness sections, marked +1 per correct answer with −0.25 negative marking — and the pen-and-paper Creative Ability Test, a drawing-based paper judging observation, concept development and the creative use of colour and illustration. B.Des shortlists then face a Situation Test, a hands-on model-making round using supplied materials, while postgraduate shortlists face a Personal Interview.
The composite weightages reward creative work over the objective round: for B.Des the CAT carries 50%, GAT 30% and the Situation Test 20%; for M.Des the split is CAT 40%, GAT 30% and interview 30%, while the technology and management programmes (B.FTech, MFM, M.FTech) are decided by GAT and interview alone. Candidates should also mind NIFT's distinctive constraints — the under-24 age limit for undergraduate entry (relaxed for SC/ST/PwD) and disqualification for any identifying marks on the CAT answer sheet.
Accepted by: B.Des (Fashion Design, Fashion Communication, Accessory Design, Knitwear Design, Leather Design, Textile Design, Fashion Interiors), B.FTech, M.Des, Master of Fashion Management and M.FTech across the 20 NIFT campuses
