Tamil Nadu’s 2027 board exams: Class 12 from 3 March, Class 10 from 17 March, results in May

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, released the time table for the 2026-27 public examinations on 14 October 2026. It covers the Class 12 exam (HSE second year), the Class 11 exam for arrear candidates (HSE first year) and the Class 10 exam (SSLC). Every paper starts at 10 am and ends at 1.15 pm.

Class 12 papers

• 3 March (Wed): Part I, Tamil and other languages
• 8 March (Mon): Part II, English
• 12 March (Fri): chemistry, accountancy, geography
• 15 March (Mon): communicative English, ethics and Indian culture, computer science, computer applications, biochemistry, advanced Tamil, home science, political science, statistics, nursing (vocational), basic electrical engineering
• 19 March (Fri): biology, botany, history, business maths and statistics, and the vocational engineering, textile technology and office management papers
• 23 March (Tue): physics, economics, employability skills
• 29 March (Mon): mathematics, zoology, commerce, microbiology, nutrition and dietetics, textile and dress designing, food service management, agricultural science, nursing (general)

Class 10 (SSLC) papers

• 17 March (Wed): Part I, Tamil and other languages
• 25 March (Thu): English
• 31 March (Wed): mathematics
• 5 April (Mon): science
• 9 April (Fri): social science
• 12 April (Mon): optional language

Exam-day timings

The first 10 minutes (10.00 to 10.10 am) are for reading the question paper. The next five minutes are for checking your particulars, and the exam itself runs for three hours, from 10.15 am to 1.15 pm.

Class 11 is for arrear candidates only

The March 2027 HSE first-year schedule is marked "for 2018 to 2025 arrear candidates only". There is no Class 11 public exam in this time table for students in Class 11 this year. If you still have a Class 11 paper to clear, your dates are 5 March (languages), 16 March (English), and 18, 22, 24 and 30 March and 1 April for the subject papers.

What to do now: Class 12 students have a short gap before maths: chemistry on 12 March, physics on 23 March and maths on 29 March. Plan revision around those dates. The DGE's dates for results are tentative, but they give Class 12 students a useful guide for planning college applications and entrance tests.
