CBSE opens a Class 12 special exam for West Asia: schools must file candidate lists 22–26 September

CBSE is holding a special Class 12 examination for its schools in West Asia, and the step that decides whether a student is in it belongs to the school, not the student: the List of Candidates (LOC) has to be filed between 22 and 26 September.

Who it covers

Students of CBSE-affiliated schools in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Iran whose Class 12 result came through the alternative assessment scheme, or who could not sit the main examination. The special exam covers 40 subjects — 20 academic and 20 skill subjects.

The conditions worth reading twice

  • No additional examination fee is being charged for this attempt.
  • Subjects cannot be changed. You reappear in what you were registered for, not in something you now prefer.
  • The new result replaces the earlier one. This is not a best-of-two; it is a substitution, which is the single most important thing to weigh before opting in.
  • Candidates who did not appear in the original examination at all remain outside the eligible set on the same terms as before.

What students and parents should do now

Ask the school's examination in-charge today whether your name is going into the LOC, and get that confirmation in writing. The window is five days long and entirely in the school's hands; a student who assumes the school has filed and discovers otherwise on 27 September has no remedy. Subject-wise dates for the exam itself will follow after the LOC window closes.
