Eligibility
- A completed graduate degree or diploma (or postgraduate degree) of at least three years after Class 12, or final-year appearance in such a programme by July 2027.
- Alternatively, the five-year Government Diploma in Art (G.D. Art) after Class 10, passed by July 2027.
- There is no age limit, and you can take CEED any number of times.
The brochure warns that the institutes' own admission criteria may be stricter than CEED's, so check each programme before you apply.
Exam pattern
Part A (150 marks, one hour) is computer-based, with numerical, multiple-choice and multiple-select questions. Part B (100 marks, two hours) has five questions on design, drawing and writing, answered on paper. Your final score is 25% of Part A plus 75% of Part B, so the drawing paper decides most of it. The fee is ₹2,000 for women and SC, ST and PwD candidates, and ₹4,000 for others.
What a score does and does not do
Participating institutes include IIT Bombay (IDC School of Design), IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IISc Bangalore, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram. Qualifying does not guarantee a seat: each institute runs its own application, tests and interviews, and the score is valid for one year from the result.
