The Gujarat Public Service Commission has cancelled the subject paper of the preliminary test for ICT Officer, Class-2 (Advt. 36/2026-27), after finding that some questions had been repeated from an earlier exam in the same subject. The paper will be held again on Saturday, 31 October. The recruitment is for nine posts, one each in nine new municipal corporations, at Pay Level 9.

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has cancelled the subject paper of the preliminary test for ICT Officer, Class-2 in various municipal corporations (Advertisement No. 36/2026-27). The paper was held on 4 October 2026. In a notice dated 9 October, GPSC says it found that some questions had been repeated from a previous exam in the same subject. The paper will be held again on 31 October 2026.

What changes
| Paper | Original date | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1: General Studies (100 questions, 100 marks) | 26 July 2026 | Not affected by the notice |
| Part 2: Concerned subject (200 questions, 200 marks) | 4 October 2026 | Cancelled. New date: Saturday, 31 October 2026 |
The notice cancels only the subject paper, the one held on 4 October. The prelim has 300 marks in all, and the advertisement allows 180 minutes for the two parts together.
The job
- Nine posts, one each in the municipal corporations of Gandhidham, Karamsad-Anand, Mehsana, Morbi, Nadiad, Navsari, Porbandar, Surendranagar and Vapi. All nine are unreserved.
- Pay: ₹53,100–1,67,800 (Pay Matrix Level 9).
- Qualification: a B.E. or B.Tech in IT, computer science, computer engineering or technology, electronics, electronics and communication, or ICT, or an MCA or M.Sc. (IT). You also need basic computer knowledge as defined in the state's rules, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi or both.
- Age: up to 37 on the last date of application (19 June 2026). Women get 5 years' relaxation and candidates with disabilities 10 years, up to a maximum of 45. There is no upper age limit for staff of a Gujarat municipal corporation on a regular pay scale who have served continuously for six months or more.
How selection works
- Selection is by preliminary test and interview, weighted 50:50. The prelim score (out of 300) and the interview score (out of 100) are each scaled to 50.
- If you score below 15% in the prelim, you cannot be called for interview. Shortlisted candidates go through application scrutiny first.
- GPSC's norm for four or more posts in a category is to call three times the number of posts or 20, whichever is greater. With nine posts, that works out to about 27 candidates.
- After the interview, candidates pick their corporation through a merit-cum-preference counselling round that GPSC will announce.
What to do now: if you sat the 4 October paper, prepare for the subject paper again for 31 October and check the GPSC and GPSC-OJAS sites for the call-letter notice for the new date. The subject syllabus is on GPSC's site under Advt. 36/2026-27.
