GSSSB’s disability recruitment drives leave posts empty: 2 picks for 15 engineer posts, none for geologist

The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) runs special recruitment drives for Class III posts that only candidates with benchmark disabilities can apply for. Four results and notices it published between 12 and 15 October 2026 show the same pattern: far more posts than candidates.

What the four notices say

Post (Advertisement)PostsWhat happened
Additional Assistant Engineer (Civil), 402/2025-2615Final result on 15 October: 2 candidates selected. Fourteen posts were with the Gujarat Water Supply and Sewerage Board and one with the Gujarat Maritime Board, which got no candidate.
Physiotherapist, 400/2025-2617Marks of the 14 candidates who sat the exam published on 12 October. Eight were called for document verification.
Pharmacist/Compounder (Ayurveda), 401/2025-2616Only 4 candidates sat the exam. Two were called for document verification.
Junior Geologist, 379/2025-26Not statedNotice of 15 October: the only candidate who registered was absent, so no select list or waiting list could be prepared.

Across the three drives with a stated post count, that is 48 posts and 12 candidates left: 2 selected and 10 called for verification. The physiotherapist and pharmacist candidates were called to the board’s office at Karmayogi Bhavan, Gandhinagar, at 11 am on 16 October.

How these exams work

The physiotherapist and pharmacist exams used the board’s regular format: a computer-based test of 210 multiple-choice questions, 90 in Part A and 120 in Part B. A right answer earned one mark and a wrong one cost a quarter. A name on a verification list is not a selection. The board checks original certificates, including the disability certificate, before it prepares a select list.

Why this matters if you have a disability

These drives are open only to candidates with benchmark disabilities who hold the qualification for the post, and recent rounds show very little competition. Unfilled posts do come back: the Gujarat Public Service Commission’s current schedule lists some of its disability drives as the third or fourth attempt to fill the same post.

  • GSSSB’s staff nurse drive for candidates with disabilities (11 posts) is open on OJAS until 29 October 2026.
  • The board’s new Work Assistant advertisement (461/2026-27) also sets aside 113 of its 1,663 posts for candidates with disabilities, with applications open until 29 October.
  • The Gujarat Public Service Commission is running its own disability drives for Class 1 and 2 posts. Its exam schedule of 14 October puts the preliminary for ten of them on 13 December 2026.

What to do now

  1. Get a disability certificate in Form V, VI or VII under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017. That is the format GSSSB asks for.
  2. Check the board’s notifications page for advertisements marked “special recruitment drive”, and apply only for posts that list your disability group.
  3. If you studied physiotherapy or pharmacy, see CareerBox’s pages on rehabilitation sciences and pharmacy colleges.
