ICT tops the engineering wish-list in Gujarat’s 2026 ACPC admissions

Information & Communication Technology has overtaken plain computer engineering as the most sought-after branch in this year’s ACPC round, with the ICT seats at Dhirubhai Ambani University closing at a merit rank of 85.

Gujarat’s centralised engineering admissions have a new favourite. In the 2026 ACPC season, Information & Communication Technology (ICT) drew the strongest demand of any branch, ahead of computer science and computer engineering, electronics & communication, mechanical engineering, and the newer artificial intelligence and machine learning programmes.

How tight the top seats were

  • ICT at Dhirubhai Ambani University, Gandhinagar closed at merit rank 85.
  • ICT with a computational science minor at the same university closed at rank 107, and its mathematics and computing programme at rank 155.
  • Computer science at Nirma University closed at rank 255.
  • Across the fifty most competitive programmes in the state, the widest cutoff was rank 4,724, for electrical engineering at MS University, Vadodara.

ICT is essentially a computer science and engineering degree that also covers connected ground from the electronics and communication branch, which is what makes it attractive to students weighing software against hardware careers.

Where you can study it

ICT is currently offered at Dhirubhai Ambani University, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Vishwakarma Government Engineering College and Adani, and L.D. College of Engineering plans to add the programme from the next academic year.

For students planning for 2027, the message is simple: an ICT or computer science seat at the state’s top campuses needs a three-digit merit rank, which means a strong GUJCET percentile on top of Class 12 marks.
