IGNOU July 2026 admissions stay open until 13 October — keep your APAAR ID ready

The Indira Gandhi National Open University admission portal for the July 2026 cycle now lists 13 October 2026 as the last date for submitting applications. The date applies to every programme except certificate programmes and semester-based programmes, which keep their own timelines.

What you need before you start

  • An APAAR ID. The portal asks applicants to keep it ready before beginning, and carries a help link for anyone having trouble creating one.
  • A colour passport-size photograph on a white background and a signature scan, each under 100 KB in JPEG format.
  • Your educational qualification certificate, plus an experience certificate and a category certificate (SC, ST or OBC) if they apply, each under 200 KB in JPEG or PDF.
  • Your own mobile number and email address: both are verified by OTP at registration, and your username (8 to 16 characters) is sent to you by email and SMS.

How to apply

  1. Read the programme details, eligibility, duration and fee on the portal, and the common prospectus.
  2. Click new registration, create a password of 8 to 16 letters and numbers, and log in.
  3. Fill in the form, upload scans made from your originals, preview and save a copy.
  4. Pay by credit card, debit card, net banking or UPI.

Once admission is confirmed, your photograph and signature become part of the official record and cannot be changed, so upload clear ones the first time.

Cancelling and refunds

  • The registration fee is not refundable.
  • If you cancel before admission is confirmed, the rest of the fee is refunded.
  • After confirmation, 15% of the programme fee (capped at ₹2,000) is deducted.
  • Cancellation is done from your own login, and it cannot be undone. No refund is admissible after 60 days from the closing date of admissions.

Scholarships

The portal says eligible students can apply for central government scholarships on the National Scholarship Portal after their admission is confirmed. A few certificate programmes (including some early-childhood special education certificates) are applied for on a separate IGNOU portal, not this one.
