JEE Advanced 2026 report: 10,107 women qualified, and one in four women who registered got through
The Joint Implementation Committee report for JEE Advanced 2026, prepared by IIT Roorkee, shows 56,880 qualifiers out of 1,79,694 who sat both papers. Women’s qualification rate rose to 23.4% of registrants, and they took 20.22% of the 18,861 IIT seats allotted.

The Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) report for JEE (Advanced) 2026 is now on the exam's official website. IIT Roorkee organised this year's exam, and the report is the most detailed public account of how the test and IIT seat allocation went. It is also useful for anyone preparing for 2027.
The headline numbers
| Measure | 2026 | 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Registered | 1,87,389 | 1,87,223 |
| Appeared in both papers | 1,79,694 | 1,80,422 |
| Qualified | 56,880 | 54,378 |
| Aggregate cut-off, Common Rank List | 25.56% | 20.56% |
| Women registered / qualified | 43,112 / 10,107 | 43,413 / 9,404 |
| Women qualified as a share of women registered | 23.4% | 21.7% |
| IIT seats allotted (women) | 18,861 (3,814 — 20.22%) | 18,188 (3,664 — 20.15%) |
Women's share of IIT seats barely moved; it stays close to a fifth, the level the female-only supernumerary seats are designed to reach. Of the 3,814 women admitted this year, 37 won their seats from the gender-neutral pool.
Who got to sit the exam
The top 2.5 lakh JEE Main candidates, by category, were eligible. The JEE Main percentiles needed to make that list were:
- Open: 93.41
- GEN-EWS: 82.42
- OBC-NCL: 80.92
- SC: 63.92
- ST: 52.02
Because of tied percentiles, 2,50,174 candidates were declared eligible.
Other figures from the report
- The qualifying marks were relaxed so that at least twice as many candidates qualify as there are seats in each category.
- The top score was 330 out of 360. The highest-placed woman scored 280, at All India Rank 77.
- IIT seat capacity was 18,826, including 3,776 female-only supernumerary seats. JoSAA ran five rounds across 138 institutes, and 2,11,310 candidates registered for it.
- The Architecture Aptitude Test drew 1,098 registrations, but only 310 candidates appeared; 306 qualified.
- 32 court cases were filed over JEE (Advanced) and JoSAA 2026.
- Institutes outside the IIT system signed agreements to use JEE Advanced ranks for undergraduate admission, among them IISc (for its BS programme), IIPE, IIST and RGIPT.
What 2027 aspirants can take from it
The qualifying bar is a moving target: it is set after the exam so that enough candidates qualify for the seats. Aim for rank, not for last year's cut-off. The report's subject-wise mark distributions are worth studying, because they show how much each subject separated the qualifiers from the rest.
