SWAYAM exam registration is open: sign up by 31 October to get credit for July-semester courses
NTA is taking applications from 9 to 31 October for the SWAYAM July 2026 semester exams, covering 662 courses. The fee can be paid until 1 November, corrections are on 2–3 November, and the computer-based exams run from 8 to 12 December.
Watching every lecture of a SWAYAM course does not earn you a certificate or credits. You also have to sit the proctored end-of-semester exam, and the window to sign up for it is now open. The National Testing Agency (NTA) began accepting applications for the SWAYAM July 2026 semester exam on 9 October 2026, for 662 courses.
The schedule
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Online application | 9 to 31 October (till 11:50 pm) |
| Last date to pay the fee | 1 November (till 11:50 pm) |
| Correction window | 2 and 3 November (till 11:50 pm) |
| Exam city and admit card | To be announced |
| Examinations | 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 December |
Each paper is a three-hour computer-based test. Shift 1 runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and shift 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm. The course-wise annexure lists the date and shift of every paper. It also names the national coordinator (CEC, IGNOU, IIM Bangalore, NITTTR, UGC or an institute of national importance) and the number of questions, which is 50 for most papers and 100 for some.
Do this before you apply
- Find your course ID in the annexure (for example, CEC course codes start with "cec26_"). If two of your courses fall in the same shift, sort it out now, not in December.
- Check that your college will accept the credits. Credit transfer works only if your parent institution counts the course towards your degree. Confirm this with your department in writing.
- Read the information bulletin on the SWAYAM exam portal for the fee, the list of exam cities and how to apply. The notice itself does not state the fee.
- Pick a city you can reach. The exam is held at a test centre, not from home.
