Tamil Nadu’s special TET for working teachers: results and final key are out, e-certificates within five days

The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB), Tamil Nadu, declared the results of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test for Working Teachers 2026 (Special TNTET-1) on 12 October 2026, along with the final answer key. The exam was open only to teachers already working in Tamil Nadu's government, aided and recognised private schools.

The tentative key and objection tracker came out on 15 July. TRB says an expert panel examined every objection, subject by subject, before the final key was fixed.

Who this test was for

  • Secondary Grade Teachers, BT Assistants, BRTEs, special education teachers and equivalent cadres appointed on or before 1 September 2025, whether on time-scale, consolidated or part-time pay.
  • Teachers in self-financing sections of aided schools and in recognised private schools of the State Board and other boards were also eligible.
  • The state government permitted the special test through G.O.(Ms) No. 231 of 13 October 2025.

Pass marks and the certificate

  • Each paper had 150 questions for 150 marks in 3 hours, on OMR. The notification's minimum qualifying marks are 90 (60%) for general category, 75 (50%) for BC, BCM, MBC/DNC and PwD, and 60 (40%) for SC, SCA and ST, as set by G.O. 23 of 28 January 2026. TRB's result note says sheets were valued under that order and G.O. 46 of 25 February 2026.
  • Qualified teachers can download their e-certificate from trb.tn.gov.in within five days of the result.
  • The certificate is marked valid for working teachers only, and a pass does not by itself give anyone a right to a job.
  • Puducherry candidates get only their marks from TRB. Their eligibility certificate will come from Puducherry's school education department.

What to do now

Log in at trb.tn.gov.in, check your marks and compare your responses with the final key. If you qualified, download the e-certificate once it is live and give a copy to your school management for your service records. If you did not qualify, keep the final key: it shows exactly where marks were lost. Watch the TRB site for any notification of a further sitting.
