GPSC Opt-out for GAS, GCS and Chief Officer posts: 128 candidates must report in person between 27 and 30 October 2026 at 9 am
GPSC has published a provisional list of 128 candidates for an in-person Opt-out sitting under Advertisement 47/2023-24. It runs on 27, 28, 29 and 30 October 2026, and individual slots go out by email on 22 October.

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has started an Opt-out round for Advertisement 47/2023-24, the recruitment to the Gujarat Administrative Service (Class 1), the Gujarat Civil Service (Class 1 and 2) and the Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service (Class 2). A provisional list of 128 candidates was published on 21 October 2026, and everyone on it has to attend in person at the Commission.

Why GPSC is doing this
The Commission says results of different advertisements sometimes come out close together, and many candidates apply for all of them. A candidate who is selected somewhere else may not join this post, and the next person on the merit list then loses the seat. Because this advertisement has no waiting list, those seats can stay empty. To avoid that, the Commission will ask each listed candidate, in person, whether they will take the post offered to them or opt out of this recruitment.
Dates and what happens
| Item | Date |
|---|---|
| Interviews for this advertisement | 23 April to 10 September 2026 |
| Notice and provisional list published | 21 October 2026 |
| Your date and time sent by email (to the address on your form) | 22 October 2026 |
| Opt-out sittings at the Commission, Gandhinagar | 27, 28, 29 and 30 October 2026, from 9:00 am |
If you do not get an email, the notice tells you to go to the Commission with proof of identity and your interview call letter and find out your slot there.
What to carry and how it works
- An original photo ID, such as Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, election card or PAN card.
- The interview call letter issued by the Commission.
- No mobile phones or other electronic gadgets during the process. A short phone call to family can be allowed in front of the committee in special cases.
Your attendance is recorded, your documents are checked, and you are given an Opt-out form (Annexure A) to fill in and sign. On it you either accept the post you are eligible for, or decline it and leave this recruitment. What you write is final. Once you opt out of a post, you cannot later claim it or ask for it back, and the final result is prepared on the basis of these forms.
Only in an exceptional case can someone else attend for you. They need an authority letter (Annexure C), and the notice says the Commission must receive your request in writing or by email at least 3 days before your date, and approve it beforehand. Nobody is allowed to attend for you without that approval.
Points to note
- The 128 names are a provisional Opt-out list, not a merit list. Being on it gives no right to an appointment.
- The list is subject to the final judgment of the Gujarat High Court in special civil applications 9297/2024, 9303/2024, 9309/2024, 9314/2024, 9638/2024 and 8765/2025.
- The list shows roll numbers only. Check yours against the PDF on the GPSC website, and watch the site for further notices, which the candidates must follow within the time given.
Candidates who are unsure whether they want this post should decide before reaching the Commission, because the form cannot be reversed.
