GPSC rules 232 of 2,669 Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) candidates out of the mains: representations are due within 7 working days of 19 October 2026
GPSC checked the documents of 2,669 candidates for Advertisement 1/2026-27 and published a list of 232 who are ineligible for the main exam, each with a reason. Seven more candidates lose their category benefit.

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has finished the online document check for Advertisement 1/2026-27, the recruitment to the Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil), Class 1 and Class 2 in the Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department and the Roads and Buildings Department. On 19 October 2026 it published the list of candidates who are not eligible for the main exam, with the reason against each roll number.

The numbers
| Item | Figure or date |
|---|---|
| Candidates called for document checking (provisional list of 4 June 2026) | 2,669 |
| Declared not eligible for the main exam | 232 |
| Candidates who lose their category benefit but stay in the exam (Table B) | 7 |
| List published | 19 October 2026 |
| Window for a written representation | 7 working days from the list |
Why people were ruled out
The reasons are printed beside each seat number. The most common one is that the online certificate copies were not uploaded within the time allowed. Others include not uploading all the certificates the advertisement asked for, not submitting the prescribed disability certificate, a disability that does not match the disability the post is reserved for, a prescribed-format certificate not produced, and a missing S.S.C.E. credit certificate for proof of date of birth. One entry is for an EWS certificate that was not in the required period.
The seven in Table B
Seven further candidates passed the screening but did not produce an EWS certificate, a caste certificate or an NCLC certificate valid for the required period. They are not removed. Instead, the Commission says they will be treated as unreserved candidates, on the condition that they took no category benefit or relaxation in the preliminary exam.
What to do if your roll number is on the list
- Open the PDF on the GPSC website and read the exact reason against your seat number.
- If you think it is wrong, write to the Commission within seven working days. The notice says anything sent after that will not be considered. Counting Monday to Friday from the list date of 19 October, the seventh working day is 28 October 2026. Confirm the exact cut-off with the Commission, as the notice does not name a date.
- Do not send fresh certificates or an application form. The notice says the Commission will not accept any application or certificate after the ineligible list is published.
The notice does not announce a date for the main exam, so watch the GPSC website for it.
Candidates not on either table are eligible for the mains and should keep checking the Commission's notices for the programme and call letters.
