IIT JAM 2027 last date extended to 22 October 2026: exam on 14 February 2027, ₹1,000 fee for women and SC, ST, PwD
IIT Kharagpur, which runs JAM 2027, now lists 22 October 2026 as the extended last date to apply. The exam is on 14 February 2027 in two sessions and results are due on 18 March 2027.

IIT Kharagpur, the organising institute for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027, now shows 22 October 2026 as the extended last date to apply. The earlier deadline was 12 October 2026, which we reported in our story on JAM registration opening. The exam is on 14 February 2027.

Key dates
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration starts | 11 September 2026 (as shown on the JAM 2027 home page) |
| Last date to apply (extended) | 22 October 2026 |
| Examination | Sunday, 14 February 2027 |
| Result | 18 March 2027 |
The home page gives a date but no closing time for 22 October. Apply earlier in the day, since payment gateways slow down near deadlines. Note that the Information Brochure still carries the old 12 October dates, so rely on the home page for the new one.
Test papers and sessions
| Session | Time | Papers |
|---|---|---|
| Forenoon | 9:30 am to 12:30 pm | Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA) |
| Afternoon | 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm | Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Physics (PH) |
You can sit one paper or two, but two papers must be in different sessions. A Chemistry and Physics pair works, for instance, while Chemistry and Mathematics does not, because both are in the forenoon.
Fee
Under the Information Brochure, the fee is non-refundable and depends on category and the number of papers.
| Category | One paper | Two papers |
|---|---|---|
| Female, SC, ST, PwD | ₹1,000 | ₹1,350 |
| All others | ₹2,000 | ₹2,700 |
