ISRO moves its Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ written test from 19 to 29 October 2026, and the Assistant and Stenographer skill test is on 1 November
ISRO’s recruitment board has pushed the computer based test for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science to Thursday, 29 October 2026. The 37-city test follows the 19 October date that was first announced.

The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) has postponed the computer based test (CBT) for Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ posts from 19 October 2026 to Thursday, 29 October 2026. The change is posted on the advertisement page for Advertisement No. ISRO:ICRB:03(EMC):2026, dated 27 August 2026, on isro.gov.in. If you applied before the form closed on 16 September 2026, plan for 29 October, not 19 October.

The dates on the page
| Item | Date |
|---|---|
| Advertisement and online form opened | 27 August 2026 |
| Last date to apply and pay the fee | 16 September 2026, 11:55 pm |
| Original CBT date | 19 October 2026 |
| New CBT date | Thursday, 29 October 2026 |
The page does not give a new date for call letters. The advertisement says call letters for the CBT are sent only to the email ID you gave in the application, so check that inbox and isro.gov.in rather than waiting for a post or an SMS.
Which posts this covers
- Posts: Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in Electronics (BE001), Mechanical (BE002) and Computer Science (BE003), plus the matching posts at the Physical Research Laboratory (BE001A, BE002A, BE003A).
- Qualification: B.E. or B.Tech in the discipline with at least 65% aggregate marks or CGPA.
- Age: up to 28 years on 16 September 2026, with the usual relaxations.
- Pay: Level 10, with a minimum basic pay of ₹56,100 a month plus allowances.
How the test works
| Part | Content | Time | Marking |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 80 discipline questions | 90 minutes | +1 for right, minus one third for wrong |
| B | Aptitude and reasoning | 30 minutes | No negative marking |
The paper is out of 100 marks. An unreserved candidate needs 50% in each part, and 40% for PwBD candidates where posts are reserved. The test is held at 37 cities, and Ahmedabad is one of them. ISRO says it can change a venue and move a candidate to another city.
After the test
- Answer keys go on the ISRO website within three working days of the test, and you have five days to object through the link ISRO provides.
- Candidates are shortlisted for interview in a ratio of 1 to 5, with at least 10 candidates in all.
- The final panel gives 50% weight to the written test and 50% to the interview. An unreserved candidate needs 60% in aggregate.
Assistants and stenographers: skill test on 1 November
A separate advertisement, ISRO:ICRB:01(A-JPA):2026 dated 27 July 2026, covers Assistants, Junior Personal Assistants, Upper Division Clerks and Stenographers. Its page lists the skill test for 1 November 2026, after the CBT held on 21 September 2026. Candidates for those posts should read that page for their own call letter.
Applications for the Scientist/Engineer posts are closed, so there is nothing new to submit. For more on hiring at ISRO, see our story on the Sriharikota spaceport's 97 posts.
