GSSSB is hiring 16 Operation Theatre Assistants for Gujarat’s medical colleges: apply on OJAS by 29 October

The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) has opened Advertisement No. 460/202627 for 16 Operation Theatre Assistant (Class 3) posts. The posts sit under the Additional Director, Medical Education and Research, in the Health and Family Welfare Department. Applications are on ojas.gujarat.gov.in from 2 pm on 15 October to 11:59 pm on 29 October 2026.

Who can apply

The advertisement asks for any one of these, from a recognised university or institution:

• A Diploma in Operation Theatre Techniques or Operation Theatre Technician
• A certificate course of at least one year in Operation Theatre Technology or Operation Theatre Technician
• A B.Sc. Medical Technology in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology

You also need basic computer knowledge as defined in the Gujarat Civil Services rules, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati, Hindi or both.

Age: 18 to 35 years on 29 October 2026. Women in the general category and reserved-category men get 5 more years, reserved-category women get 10, and there are larger relaxations for candidates with disabilities, capped at 45. Ex-servicemen get their service period plus three years.

One post is reserved for an ex-serviceman. Posts reserved for candidates with disabilities are being filled through a separate special drive (Advertisement 297/202526), so this advertisement does not carry them. Reservation applies only to reserved-category candidates who are originally from Gujarat.

Pay, fee and exam

• Pay: a fixed ₹26,000 a month for the first five years. After that, if service is satisfactory, regular pay in Level 2, ₹19,900 to ₹63,200.
• Fee: ₹500 for unreserved candidates and ₹400 for all women, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, candidates with disabilities and ex-servicemen. Pay online by 11:59 pm on 1 November. The fee is refunded to candidates who sit the exam.
• Exam: one MCQ paper, computer based or OMR, 3 hours. Part A carries 90 marks (reasoning and data interpretation, quantitative aptitude, and the Constitution, current affairs and Gujarati and English comprehension, 30 each). Part B carries 120 marks on the subject. There are 210 questions and a quarter mark is cut for each wrong answer.

What to do now

1. Check that your OT qualification matches one of the three listed above before you start the form.
2. Apply on ojas.gujarat.gov.in and confirm the application by 29 October. An unconfirmed form is not an application.
3. Pay the fee online by 1 November and keep the receipt. Without a receipt the board treats the fee as unpaid.
4. Revise your OT and anaesthesia basics for the 120-mark Part B, which decides most of your score.

GSSSB has two other forms open to the same deadline: 1,663 Work Assistant posts and 11 staff nurse posts for candidates with disabilities.
