Your three options after a round 1 seat
- Join and stop. Report with your original documents by 2 November and do not opt for an upgrade. You will not be considered in round 2.
- Join and ask for an upgrade. Join the seat online and at the college, then mark willingness for upgradation as "Yes" on the portal. If round 2 gives you a better seat, you must take an online relieving letter from the round 1 college and join the new one. You lose any claim on the round 1 seat.
- Do not join. MCC's information bulletin treats this as a free exit, available only in round 1. You can log in again with the same registration and fill fresh choices in round 2. From round 2 onward, leaving a seat means forfeiting the security deposit.
MCC also notes that a candidate whose category or quota has changed within the same college and subject must get an online relieving letter and a fresh admission letter for the changed seat, or the seat is cancelled.
Gujarat candidates are also in the state's own round 1, with choice filling open until 10 am on 31 October. How the two counsellings interact, and what the deposits are, is in our NEET PG counselling 2026 guide.
