IIT BHU Varanasi B.Tech Admission Process
The candidate must meet the IIT BHU Varanasi eligibility criteria. The candidate must appear and qualify for the JEE Advanced examination. If the candidate qualifies for JEE Advanced, then the candidate must register for JoSAA counselling on the official website.
IIT BHU admissions to B.Tech+M.Tech courses are also offered through JEE Advanced scores themselves. Then the candidate must select IIT BHU Varanasi as the preferred college in the counselling process. Then the seats will be allotted to the candidates based on their performance in the entrance examination.

IIT BHU Varanasi online applications are open for admissions in MTech, MPharm, PhD programmes of academic session 2026-27 (Odd Semester). NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, IIT BHU ranks 31 under the 'Overall' category, 22 under the 'Research Institutions' category, and 10 under the 'Engineering' category. QS World University Rankings 2026 have been released. According to the same, IIT BHU ranks at #566 under the category 'World Universities'. The GATE COAP 2026 seat allotment results for round 3 have been released for admission to the ME/MTech courses. Candidates can choose to accept & freeze, retain & wait, or reject & wait by May 27, 2026 (till 9 AM). A few more updates are given below: The JEE Advanced 2026 exam has been conducted for admission to the BE/BTech course. The results for the same will be announced on Jun 1, 2026 . The JEE Main 2026 session 2 result has been announced on the official website for IIT BHU admission to the BTech, BArch and BPlan courses. The IIT JAM 2026 first admission list has been announced for admission to the MSc course. Students have to pay the seat booking fee by May 30, 2026 . Also, the window to opt for either an opening or closing withdrawal option will be open from Jun 3, 2026, to Jul 3, 2026 .

Indian Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University Varanasi offers a variety of scholarships to students. IIT BHU Varanasi 2025 Details
For merit-cum-means scholarship general students must have a CGPA of 8 and above, whereas for OBC the required CGPA is 7, for SC/ST it is 5 and sometimes CGPA is not required for SC/ST category for availing scholarships.

The Institute offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to the undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarship, reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech./M.Pharm. programmes are provided financial Assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. The Institute offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships to students admitted to PhD programmes.
