BPSC postpones the 72nd combined prelims set for 25 October — the second delay for the 1,187-post exam

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has postponed the Integrated 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination. The exam was to be held on Sunday, 25 October 2026. In a notice dated 12 October 2026, the Controller of Examinations says it has been put off for unavoidable reasons, and that the new date will be announced later.

How many posts are at stake

• The 5 May notice said various departments had sent requisitions for 1,230 posts in total.
• Corrigenda since then have cut that number. 44 Sugarcane Officer posts were deleted in May, Sub Registrar vacancies were revised, and on 3 September the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Bihar Police Service) posts were reduced from 22 to 20.
• The 3 September corrigendum puts the current total at 1,187 posts.

What it means for candidates

• Do not travel or book tickets for 25 October. Wait for BPSC's fresh exam programme, and for its notice on admit cards for the new date.
• The 12 October notice only postpones the exam. It does not reopen applications or change the posts.
• The date has now slipped twice, so check the "Important Notices" list on bpsc.bihar.gov.in regularly. BPSC posts its exam schedules and changes there.

What to do now: keep revising as if the exam were a month away. Check the BPSC site and your candidate dashboard every few days, and do not rely on dates circulating on social media until the Commission publishes them.
