Delhi University will waive fees for students from families earning under ₹4 lakh, apply by 13 October
DU’s Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 is open. Family income up to ₹4 lakh gets a 100% fee waiver (up to ₹15,000); ₹4 to 8 lakh gets 50% (up to ₹10,000). Engineering, five-year law, SOL and NCWEB students are excluded.
The University of Delhi has opened applications for its Financial Support Scheme for 2026-27, which pays part or all of a student's fees depending on family income. The last date is 13 October 2026.
How much
- Family income up to ₹4 lakh a year: 100% fee waiver, up to ₹15,000.
- Family income from ₹4 lakh to ₹8 lakh: 50% waiver, up to ₹10,000.
Who can apply
Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students in DU's departments, institutes and centres. The scheme excludes engineering programmes (except those at the Cluster Innovation Centre), the five-year integrated law programme, the School of Open Learning, NCWEB, and students with essential repeat failures.
What to keep ready
- An income or category certificate: EWS, OBC-NCL, or a family-income certificate for 2025-26.
- Self-attested ITR and PAN copies for 2025-26 for earning family members.
- An undertaking in the prescribed format.
- A bonafide certificate signed by your head of department or director.
- Your most recent marksheet and fee receipt.
- Bank details: passbook page or a cancelled cheque.
The application is online, but hard copies must also be submitted to the Dean of Students' Welfare office on dates DU will announce separately. Do both. An online form without the paper set is the most common way eligible students miss out.
The scheme is small in rupee terms, but for many students at DU colleges, whose annual fees often fall inside these caps, it can cover the whole year's fee.
