Gujarat MBBS round 2: choice filling extended to 14 September, and DigiLocker copies will now be rejected

If you are in Gujarat's medical counselling, two things changed this week and both have deadlines attached.

1. You have until 10 am on 14 September

The Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC) has extended round 2 choice filling for MBBS and BDS to 10:00 am on 14 September. The earlier cut-off was 11 September, so anyone who missed it — or who wants to revise an order of preferences they filled in a hurry — has a second window. It closes in the morning, not at midnight: a deadline at 10 am catches people who assume they have the whole day.

A separate window on the same date, 14 September from 10 am to 12 noon, is for candidates who want to cancel an already admitted seat. That has to be done in person at the respective help centre.

2. From round 2, originals only — DigiLocker will not be accepted

This is the change most likely to cost someone a seat. For round 2 onward the committee will accept only original certificates, presented with self-attested photocopies. DigiLocker documents and plain photocopies are being rejected.

Most students have spent the last two years being told that DigiLocker is as good as the original, and for most purposes it is. Not here. Before you travel to the help centre, physically collect your Class 10 and 12 marksheets, school leaving certificate, category and income certificates where they apply, and your NEET documents. Turning up with a phone full of PDFs and no folder is the same as turning up with nothing.

What else moved

  • 50 more MBBS seats. Ananya College of Medicine & Research, Kalol (college code ANAMED) goes from 150 to 200 seats — a late addition, which usually means a softer closing rank than the college's round 1 figure.
  • Revised provisional merit lists were issued on 10 September for the General, SC, ST, SEBC and EWS categories, along with PwD and NRI quota lists where verification is still running, and for the NHL and SMC local-quota candidates. Check your revised rank before you lock choices; a merit list that was revised is a merit list that may have moved you.
  • Vacant reserved seats convert. Unfilled reserved-category seats move to the unreserved pool during round 2, and unoccupied NRI seats become management-quota seats — carrying management-quota fees. Read the fee line before you accept a converted seat.
  • Classes start 15 September, one day after choice filling shuts. Plan travel and accommodation now, not after the allotment.

One correction to what was widely reported earlier in the week, including by us: the 11 September date is no longer operative. 14 September, 10 am, is the deadline that binds you.
