IIM Jammu opens a Leh campus with a 60-seat BBA, classes from October
IIM Jammu and the Ladakh administration have signed an agreement for a satellite campus in Leh. It will offer a four-year BBA (Honours) with 60 seats, starting in October; about 600 students have already expressed interest.
The Indian Institute of Management Jammu and the Ladakh administration signed a memorandum of understanding on 25 September 2026 to set up a satellite campus of IIM Jammu in Leh, in the presence of Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor.
What the campus offers
- A four-year BBA (Honours) programme.
- An initial intake of 60 students.
- Classes are due to begin in October 2026.
- About 600 candidates have expressed interest in the 60 seats, according to officials.
The administration says the campus infrastructure was put in place within two months of the project being taken up.
Why it matters
Until now, a young person in Ladakh who wanted a management degree from a national institute had to leave the Union Territory and pay for travel, rent and living costs elsewhere. A campus in Leh changes that arithmetic for families there. Undergraduate programmes at IIMs are still few, and a four-year BBA (Honours) from one is a direct route into business roles or, later, an MBA.
