RRB NTPC 2026: 5,236 railway posts, and the Class 12 window opened on 15 October. Graduates must apply by 6 November
The Railway Recruitment Boards have two NTPC notices running together: CEN 06/2026 for 3,548 graduate posts, including 2,750 Goods Train Managers, and CEN 07/2026 for 1,688 posts open to Class 12 pass candidates. Eligibility in brief
- Graduate posts: a degree from a recognised university, held by the closing date.
- Class 12 posts: Class 12 or equivalent with at least 50% marks. The 50% condition does not apply to SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates, or to those with a qualification higher than Class 12.
- Candidates still waiting for their final result cannot apply.
- Age is counted on 1 January 2027. For the Class 12 posts, an unreserved candidate must be born between 2 January 1997 and 1 January 2009. For the graduate posts, the earliest birth date for unreserved candidates is 2 January 1994. OBC and SC/ST candidates get the usual relaxation.
What has changed
Both notices say the Computer Based Typing Skill Test has been dispensed with for the clerk-typist and accounts-assistant-typist posts. Typing will instead be judged after joining, and poor typing can delay confirmation or promotion. Selection runs through a first-stage CBT, a second-stage CBT, then document verification and a medical test.
Fee and how to apply
The fee is ₹500, of which ₹400 comes back after you sit the first CBT. SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class candidates pay ₹250, all of it refunded on appearing. You can apply to only one RRB per notice. A second application gets all of them rejected.
What to do now: read Annexure B of your notice for the vacancies in the RRB you plan to choose, then apply on rrbapply.gov.in before the closing date. Choices of RRB and posts cannot be changed once submitted.
