UGC NET June 2026 re-exam results are out: English JRF closed at 226 of 300
Results for the three subjects re-examined on 9 and 10 September — English, Commerce and Sociology — have been declared, with subject and category-wise cut-offs published alongside them.
The National Testing Agency has declared results for the three UGC NET June 2026 subjects that were re-examined on 9 and 10 September 2026 — English, Commerce and Sociology — and has published the subject and category-wise cut-off marks that produced them. Scores are out of 300.
Unreserved cut-offs, out of 300
- English: JRF 226, Assistant Professor 198, PhD-only 172
- Sociology: JRF 232, Assistant Professor 206, PhD-only 174
- Commerce: JRF 210, Assistant Professor 182, PhD-only 160
How far the reserved categories sit below
In English, the JRF cut-off runs 226 for unreserved, 216 for EWS, 214 for OBC-NCL, 202 for SC and 198 for ST. Commerce follows the same shape — 210, 200, 198, 186 and 182. Sociology, the hardest of the three at the top, closed JRF at 232 unreserved, 224 EWS, 222 OBC-NCL, 210 SC and 200 ST.
How many qualified
- English: 481 for JRF, 5,228 for Assistant Professor, 10,539 for PhD admission only.
- Commerce: 410 for JRF, 4,379 for Assistant Professor, 8,473 for PhD admission only.
- Sociology: 127 for JRF, 1,822 for Assistant Professor, 3,737 for PhD admission only.
Reading your own result honestly
The three tiers are not consolation prizes for one another. JRF carries a fellowship and is the narrowest gate by an order of magnitude — 127 people in Sociology nationally. Assistant Professor eligibility is a hiring qualification with no money attached. PhD-only qualification lets you apply for doctoral admission on the strength of the NET score, and for a large number of candidates it is the outcome that actually changes what they do next year.
If you missed a tier by a handful of marks, the December 2026 cycle is already scheduled — the examination is set for 14 to 19 December 2026, with the joint CSIR-UGC NET on 20 and 21 December.
