In addition to graduates, students in their final year of college can apply to the NIT Durgapur curriculum. Minimum qualifying marks for admission are 60% in both the 10th and 12th grades.
Scores on the Joint Entrance Examination for Advanced Engineering (JEE Main) are used to determine who gets into the BTech programme at NIT Durgapur. Additionally, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) conducts CSAB Special Rounds of counselling for NIT+ system seats that are vacant in the JoSAA.
Candidates must either rank in the top 20% of their class on the High School Exit Exam or have a grade point average of 3.75 or above. Those from SC/ST must have earned a 65% or higher on the 12th-grade Board Exam to be considered. The BTech programme at NIT Durgapur uses the Joint Admissions and Scholarships Counselling (JoSAA) as a second criterion for admission. Seats in the NIT+ system that go unclaimed in JoSAA are subject to CSAB Special Rounds of counselling.
