About IIT Roorkee

Established in 1847, IIT Roorkee (IITR) is a public technical research university in Roorkee, Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. It holds the status of an Institute of National Importance. Its flagship programmes are the B.Arch, the MBA and the B.Tech.

Courses run at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, in full-time, part-time and online modes. Admission is based on scores in entrance tests such as JEE Advanced, GATE, CAT, JAM and CEED, followed by counselling. A 6-week summer internship, offered in 2025, gives students exposure to research practice.
