A new Kendriya Vidyalaya has opened in the Vastral area of Ahmedabad, taking the city to six KVs and the state to 49.
What the school offers
- Balvatika I, II and III (the pre-primary stage) and Classes I to V.
- One section per class to begin with, with expansion to follow subject to feasibility and approval.
Where the other Ahmedabad KVs are
The city’s existing Kendriya Vidyalayas are at MR Campus Shahibaug, Cantonment, Vastrapur Sector-30, Sabarmati Railway Colony and ONGC Chandkheda. There is a further KV at Viramgam within Ahmedabad district.
Nationally the Kendriya Vidyalaya network now stands at 1,360 schools.
For parents
KV admissions run on their own annual cycle and priority order, with children of central government employees at the top of the list. A new school starting at Balvatika and Class I means the first intake is almost entirely at the entry classes — worth watching if you have a child due to start school in Ahmedabad’s eastern suburbs.
