Students whose textbooks were ruined by waterlogging or damp during Gujarat’s heavy rains can have them replaced free of charge, the Gujarat State School Textbook Board has said.
Who qualifies
The scheme covers students of government and grant-in-aid schools in rain-affected areas whose books were damaged by flooding or moisture.
How to claim
Students and parents should contact the school directly, or the District Education Officer, to request replacement copies. District education officers assess the damage in their area and send consolidated requirements to the Board, which then dispatches the books.
The announcement was made by GSSTB chairman Manubhai Pawar on behalf of the state government. The stated aim is to stop a monsoon from costing a family a term’s worth of study material.
