Gujarat University to get a ₹10.86 crore institute for heritage, hospitality and archaeology

Gujarat University in Ahmedabad will house a new Institute of Hospitality, Heritage Management, Archaeology and Lifelong Learning, with ₹10.86 crore earmarked for its construction in the state’s 2026-27 budget.

What it is for

The institute is planned as a single academic hub that brings heritage management and archaeology together with hospitality and lifelong-learning programmes. The stated aim is to give students industry-relevant skills for the tourism and cultural sectors, which in Gujarat span everything from the Rann Utsav and the Statue of Unity circuit to the UNESCO-listed old city of Ahmedabad and the Dholavira site.
