Medical admissions 2026 now have a hard stop: 26 October, with Gujarat’s round 3 from 28 September
The counselling calendar circulated with Gujarat’s admission notice fixes the rest of the season: all-India round 3 runs 22–30 September, Gujarat’s state round 3 from 28 September to 9 October, the stray rounds through mid-October, and the last date to join any MBBS seat is 26 October.
Every MBBS and BDS seat in the country now has the same expiry date. The NEET-UG 2026 schedule circulated alongside Gujarat's admission notices lays out both columns — all-India quota and state quota — and both end on 26 October.
All India Quota, deemed and central universities
- Round 3 counselling: 22 to 30 September. Last date of joining 9 October; joined-candidate data verified by 10 October.
- Round 4, the stray vacancy round: 12 to 17 October. Last date of joining 26 October.
State quota, including Gujarat
- Round 2 state counselling: 7 to 11 September; last date of joining was 19 September, with verification on 20 September.
- Round 3 state counselling: 28 September to 9 October. Last date of joining 14 October; verification 15 October.
- State stray round: 17 to 21 October, using allotted-candidate data shared on 17 October. Last date of joining 26 October.
What the calendar is really telling you
Three things. First, the academic session for UG medical courses began on 15 September — anyone admitted in a later round joins a class already running, which is normal in this system but worth planning for. Second, the state's round 3 opens two days before the all-India round 3 result is out, so students in both processes will be choosing under partial information; know in advance which allotment you would keep. Third, the schedule instructs colleges to treat Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted holidays as working days through this period, precisely because the windows are this tight. Do not count on a weekend to buy yourself time.
If you are still waiting on a seat, the honest read is that you have roughly five weeks of chances left, in two rounds, and the last of them closes on 26 October.
