Do you need to register again?

  • No, if you registered and paid in round 1 and got no seat, or if you resigned or did not report in round 1.
  • Yes, if you did not register in round 1 with full payment. Fresh registration is open in this window.
  • Everyone fills choices afresh. Round 1 choices do not carry over.

Upgrading from a round 1 seat

If you joined a round 1 seat and opted for upgradation, your seat shows to others as a virtual vacancy in round 2, and you keep it unless you are upgraded. If you are upgraded, you must take relieving online from the round 1 seat and join the new one, and you lose any claim on the round 1 seat.

The deposit rule changes now

The information bulletin says the security deposit is forfeited if you are allotted a seat in round 2 or any later round and do not join, or if your admission is cancelled for wrong information or missing documents. The deposit is ₹25,000 for unreserved and EWS candidates and ₹10,000 for reserved candidates in the all-India quota, and ₹2,00,000 for deemed universities, on top of the registration fee (₹1,000 or ₹500 for AIQ, ₹5,000 for deemed). If you apply for both, you pay only the deemed university amount. You can still resign a round 2 seat within MCC's time limit and move to round 3, but surrendering it also forfeits the deposit. Round 3 seats cannot be resigned at all.

What to do now: list only colleges you will actually join, because from this round an unwanted allotment costs money. Check the fee and bond of each deemed university on its own website before you lock. Our NEET PG counselling 2026 guide explains the four rounds.
