What CBT-I looks like
| Section | Questions and marks |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | 30 |
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 25 |
| General Awareness | 15 |
| General Science (up to Class 10 CBSE) | 30 |
| Total | 100 in 90 minutes |
- One third of a mark is cut for every wrong answer.
- Minimum marks to be considered: 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC (NCL) and SC, 25% for ST.
- CBT-I is a screening test. Up to 15 times the vacancies in each community at each RRB go on to CBT-II, a 150-question, 120-minute paper with the technical section.
- No calculator is allowed in CBT-I. A mobile phone or Bluetooth device, even switched off, gets your candidature cancelled.
Fee refund
Only candidates who sit CBT-I get money back: ₹400 of the ₹500 fee for most candidates, and the full ₹250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, PwBD, women, transgender, minority and EBC candidates, less bank charges.
What to do now
- Log in on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in through your RRB’s page and check your exam city and date. SC and ST candidates should download the travel authority from the same link.
- Download your e-call letter about four days before your date. It is the only document that fixes your centre and shift.
- Carry your original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar. Aadhaar-linked biometric checks happen at the centre, so make sure your Aadhaar is unlocked in the UIDAI system before you travel.
- If your Aadhaar has an old photo, a wrong date of birth or biometrics not updated after age 15, fix it now. The details must match your Class 10 certificate.
- For help, the RRB helpdesk is 9513166371, Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm.
