The test
- One paper of 100 questions in 90 minutes (120 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe).
- Professional ability carries 70 marks. General awareness, arithmetic with reasoning, and general science carry 10 each.
- One third of a mark is cut for each wrong answer.
- Minimum marks: 40% for UR and EWS, 30% for OBC (NCL) and SC, 25% for ST.
- Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for document verification, so there is no waiting pool at this stage.
Correcting your form
Each correction costs ₹250, non-refundable, and you can make as many as you need until 26 October. Two things can never be changed: the details in the ‘Create an Account’ form (including your mobile number and email) and your chosen RRB. If a correction moves you from a concessional fee category to a full-fee one, you must also pay the ₹250 difference. After 26 October the boards will not accept any request to change your application.
What to do now
- Log in on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in and read your submitted application line by line: name, date of birth, category, qualification and photo.
- If anything is wrong, fix it and pay the ₹250 before 26 October.
- If you need a scribe, enter the scribe’s details between 27 and 31 October.
- Check that your Aadhaar is unlocked and matches your Class 10 certificate. You need the original Aadhaar or an e-verified printout for biometric checks at the centre.
- Spend most of your preparation on the professional section, which carries 70% of the marks.
Another railway test is close: the assistant loco pilot exam on 3 to 5 November.
