RRB Group D: railway-trained apprentices must enter their NCVT marks between 22 and 28 October, or get zero weightage
Before the Level 1 (Group D) merit list is drawn, the Railway Recruitment Boards will open a window from 12:01 am on 22 October to 11:59 pm on 28 October 2026. Course-completed Act Apprentices who sat the CBT but left their NCVT marks blank must fill them in. NCVT marks make up one third of their final merit score.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have issued a notice, dated 16 October 2026, for Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) trained in railway establishments who applied for Level 1 posts (Group D) under CEN 09/2025. An application modification window will be open from 12:01 am on 22 October to 11:59 pm on 28 October 2026 so that these candidates can enter their NCVT certificate details and marks.

Who must use this window
The window is only for CCAA candidates who meet all three of these conditions:
- they appeared in the CBT, held from 3 to 25 August 2026;
- they did not enter their NCVT marks in the online application; and
- they gave the date of their last NCVT exam in the form.
To count as having completed the apprenticeship, you must have sat the NCVT exam before the closing date for applications, 9 March 2026, even if its result came later. The notice says you will not be treated as a railway-trained CCAA with a National Apprenticeship Certificate if you skip the window. Requests sent later, or by any other route, will not be considered.
Why the marks matter so much
- One third of your final merit score comes from your NCVT marks. The other two thirds come from the CBT.
- If your CBT score alone is higher than the combined figure, RRBs use the higher of the two.
- If you do not enter your marks, you get zero for the NCVT part, and the merit list is drawn up that way.
- CCAAs trained in railway establishments are exempt from the Physical Efficiency Test.
- You must show the NCVT-issued National Apprenticeship Certificate at document verification. Without it you lose the CCAA reservation.
Where the recruitment stands
| Stage | Date or figure |
|---|---|
| Vacancies notified in CEN 09/2025 (31 January 2026) | 22,195 Level 1 posts, starting pay ₹18,000 |
| Applications received (RRB notice of 25 August 2026) | 52,39,760, including 1,17,165 from CCAAs |
| RRB Ahmedabad applications | 3,18,548, including 12,926 from CCAAs |
| Computer-based test | 3 to 25 August 2026 |

| CCAA marks window | 22 October (12:01 am) to 28 October 2026 (11:59 pm) |
| CBT result | Not yet announced |
When results come, each railway will shortlist about three times its vacancies for the PET, based on CBT merit. Document verification and medical tests follow at one candidate per vacancy. As of 20 October 2026, the RRBs had not announced a result date. Ignore any date you see that is not on an RRB website.
