SBI PO 2026: what is the latest status?

On the SBI careers page, the Probationary Officers block carries the heading "Main Examination Result Announced". The documents listed under it include the detailed advertisement, a corrigendum, the Preliminary and Main result lists, an information handout for the Main exam, and a notice on the dates for Phase III.

SBI's notice on Phase III says: "The call letters with exact date and time will be released shortly." It does not carry its own date, and it does not give an exact date for the final result.

The roll-number counts are our own count of the unique numbers in SBI's Preliminary and Main result PDFs. SBI does not state the totals in words.

SBI PO 2026 vacancy: category-wise split

SBI says the vacancies are "provisional and may vary depending on the Bank's actual requirement".

PwBD reservation is horizontal, which means those posts sit inside the categories above and are not added on top. The advertisement lists 15 for visual impairment (VI), 16 for hearing impairment (HI), 14 for locomotor disability (LD) and 16 for the d and e group (autism spectrum disorder mild, mental illness, multiple disabilities), 61 in all. OBC posts are open only to non-creamy-layer candidates, and EWS needs an Income and Asset Certificate for financial year 2025-26.

SBI PO 2026 eligibility: age and qualification

Qualification: graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Final-year and final-semester students can apply provisionally, but must show proof of having passed on or before 30 September 2026 if called for the interview. Doctors, engineers, chartered accountants and cost accountants are also eligible.

Age: not below 21 and not above 30 as on 1 April 2026. That means you must have been born between 2 April 1996 and 1 April 2005, both days included.

Upper age relaxation:

SBI states that cumulative age relaxation is not available.

Number of chances: UR and EWS candidates get 6 chances. UR (PwBD), EWS (PwBD), OBC and OBC (PwBD) get 9. SC and ST candidates have no limit. Appearing in the Main exam counts as a chance; appearing only in the Preliminary exam does not.

CIBIL clause: the original advertisement had a rule on loan defaults and credit history. A corrigendum dated 1 July 2026 removed it "with immediate effect". Candidates who had already registered did not need to register again. You can read it in the corrigendum.

SBI PO application fee

The fee is ₹750 for Unreserved, EWS and OBC candidates, and nil for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. It is non-refundable and cannot be held for any other exam. Payment was online by debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. Registration closed on 8 July 2026, so you cannot apply for this cycle now.

SBI PO exam pattern 2026

SBI's selection has three phases. The full detail is in the detailed advertisement.

Phase I: Preliminary exam (online, 100 marks, 1 hour)

There is no sectional cut-off. About ten times the number of vacancies in each category are shortlisted for the Main exam. Prelims marks are not added to the final merit list.

Phase II: Main exam (online)

You type the descriptive answers on the computer. Each section has a minimum qualifying score decided by the bank, and there is a minimum aggregate score too. For wrong answers in both Prelims and Mains, one fourth of that question's marks is deducted. Blank answers carry no penalty.

Phase III: psychometric test, group exercise and interview

The psychometric test builds a personality profile that is placed before the interview panel. The group exercise carries 20 marks and the interview 30, so 50 in all.

Final merit: the Main exam score (out of 230) is converted to 75 marks and the Phase III score (out of 50) to 25 marks, giving a total out of 100. You must qualify in Phase II and Phase III separately.

SBI PO salary 2026

SBI's advertisement says: "Presently, the starting basic pay is 48,480/- (Plus 4 advance increments)", in the scale 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 for Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Officers also get DA, HRA, CCA, PF, a contributory pension (NPS), LFC, medical facility, lease rental facility and other allowances as per rules. SBI puts the approximate CTC at the initial scale at the Mumbai centre at ₹21.97 lakh.

Service bond and probation

Selected candidates sign a bond of ₹2 lakh to serve SBI for a minimum of three years. SBI invokes the bond if you resign before three years from the date of joining. You are designated Probationary Officer on joining and may be on probation for two years, with continuous assessment. If you meet the standard, you are confirmed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Before joining, you complete an online basic banking course. You can be posted anywhere in India.

SBI PO admit card: how to download the call letter

SBI's advertisement says candidates download every call letter, from pre-exam training to the interview, "by entering their registration number and password/ date of birth from the Bank's website". Nothing is sent by post.

1. Open the SBI careers page and find the Probationary Officers block (CRPD/PO/2026-27/09).
2. Click the link for the call letter once SBI adds it. Right now the block lists the Phase III dates notice but no call letter link.
3. Enter your registration number and password or date of birth.
4. Download the call letter, check your roll number, date, time and venue, and print it.

For the Phase III call letter, SBI's notice says only that it will come "shortly". There is no date for it. If you were shortlisted, watch your registered email and SMS too, because SBI says further details go to shortlisted candidates that way. For what to carry, see the Main exam handout.

SBI PO result 2026: where to check

Both result lists are PDFs of roll numbers on sbi.bank.in: the Preliminary result and the Main result. Search the PDF for your roll number. The Main result is dated 14 October 2026 and says the results are subject to eligibility and the correctness of the information you gave at registration. The final result has no declared date.
