GPSC published its 2026 advertisement calendar on 19 February 2026; no 2027 calendar is out yet.

GPSC is Gujarat's state recruitment commission for Class 1 and Class 2 posts. This guide uses only what GPSC itself has published, read on 21 October 2026 on gpsc.gujarat.gov.in and gpsc-ojas.gujarat.gov.in. For Class 3 posts such as clerks and assistants, see our GSSSB recruitment guide.

Key takeaways

  • The 2026 calendar is a plan. Its own note says the posts are "tentative".
  • What was advertised: numbers up to 56/2026-27, in batches from 1 April to 24 September 2026.
  • GAS exam (Advt. 5/2026-27): 218 posts, prelim on 7 June 2026, 6,099 qualified, mains date not announced.
  • 2027: no calendar on the official sites as of 21 October 2026.

GPSC calendar 2026: what the official PDF says

The calendar is the file "Advertisement Calendar" on the GPSC home page. Each row gives the post and class, the estimated posts, the month of the advertisement, the planned prelim dates (General Studies, then the subject paper) and the likely month of mains or interview. The notes under the table matter:

  • The posts are "possible"; departments send their requisitions later.
  • Each advertisement will appear between the 1st and 5th of the month listed.
  • For serial numbers 5 to 18 (except 12), the common 100-mark General Studies prelim paper is planned for 26 July 2026.
  • If you applied to several advertisements with the same exam date, marks from one paper are used for the others.

GPSC Class 1 and 2 combined exam (GAS) 2026: where it stands

This is the exam most people mean by "GPSC exam". The advertisement is 5/2026-27: Gujarat Administrative Service Class 1, Gujarat Civil Service Class 1 and 2, and Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service Class 2. Posts include Deputy Superintendent of Police (unarmed), Government Labour Officer, Social Welfare Officer and Municipal Chief Officer.

Timeline, from the commission's own documents:

  • 2 to 16 April 2026: online applications on OJAS (from 1 pm on 2 April to 11:59 pm on 16 April).
  • Posts: the first notice named 71 posts. An addendum raised the total to 213, and an addendum dated 22 July 2026 changed the figure from 217 to 218.
  • 7 June 2026: preliminary exam, one General Studies paper.
  • 30 July 2026: list of 6,099 candidates qualified for mains, with a final answer key. Eleven questions were cancelled in the final key.
  • 6 to 27 August 2026: mains form and document upload for the 6,099 qualified candidates. The mains fee for General category candidates was ₹200.
  • 27 August 2026: an important notice says petitions about the prelim final answer key are before the High Court, the court's judgment will bind all candidates, and the mains will be held after it.

The advertisement had said mains would "probably" be held on 5 to 10 October 2026. As of 21 October 2026, the 27 August notice is the latest document on the Advt. 5 page, and no mains dates are published there.

Prelim cut-offs (30 July 2026 list): General common 95.98, General female 93.87, ST common 80.75, ST female 73.03. The eligibility list has every category.

The previous cycle (Advt. 240/2024-25) held its prelim on 20 April 2025 and published its interview eligibility list on 19 June 2026, so a GAS cycle runs over a year.

The prelim is only a screening test. Its marks do not count in the final selection, and the advertisement says about 15 times the number of posts are admitted to the mains. Final merit uses Papers 3 to 7 (1,250 marks) plus the interview (150 marks). About three times the number of posts are called for the interview. You must appear in every mains paper. Candidates choose the language for Papers 3 to 7 in the mains form.

Interview weeks: 26 to 30 October 2026

GPSC runs interviews in phases for large recruitments. Two sets fall in the week of 26 to 30 October 2026:

  • Medical Officer, Insurance Medical Officer and Tutor posts (Advt. 82/2024-25), phase 10: 442 candidates from 26 to 30 October 2026. The commission's notice dated 19 October 2026 says call letters can be downloaded from 6 pm on 19 October to 11 am on 30 October. See our phase-10 story, and the earlier ninth phase.
  • Engineers and agriculture officers: a separate commission interview programme covers municipal Assistant Engineer (Civil), Deputy Director of Agriculture, Executive Engineer (Mechanical) and a Chief Scientific Officer post. Details are in our 26 to 30 October engineers story.

Your date comes from the detailed interview programme. The commission says a candidate placed in one phase is not moved into a later one.

How GPSC results and call letters are published

Each recruitment moves through the same stages, with a notice for each on its Advertisement page.

  • Documents: after a prelim or mains list, shortlisted candidates upload documents on gpsc-iass.gujarat.gov.in. Missing the window can cost you the candidature. See our stories on nursing service and the Industrial Safety and Health Officer prelim result.
