National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, known as NIT Trichy, was formerly the Regional Engineering College and was established in 1964. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance under the NITSER Act, 2007. Its courses run through UG, PG and other programmes across engineering, management and other streams, and B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and MCA are among its courses.
