CBSE sample papers for the 2027 boards are out — and the pattern has not changed
Sample question papers and marking schemes for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations 2027 are on the board’s academic site. The board has confirmed there is no change in question paper design or assessment pattern this session.
CBSE has released the Sample Question Papers and Marking Schemes for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2027, published on the board's academic website on 21 September. They are free.
The headline for anyone who was worried
The board has clarified that there is no change in the question paper design and assessment pattern for the 2026-27 academic session. Whatever pattern you have been preparing against is the pattern you will sit.
What these documents actually are
The sample papers are a template — they show the shape of the paper, the distribution of question types and the weightage across the syllabus. The marking scheme is the more valuable half, and it is the one students ignore. It shows how marks are split within an answer, which is how you learn that a four-mark question is usually four separate things the examiner is looking for, not one long paragraph.
How to use them properly, starting now
- Do not save them for January. Attempt each subject's sample paper as soon as you have covered enough syllabus, under timed conditions.
- Mark your own script against the marking scheme, strictly. Being generous to yourself in September is how you get surprised in March.
- Read the scheme before you write the paper at least once, to see how points are awarded in your weakest subject.
- Check the paper's own design — the reading time, the section structure and any internal choice — so nothing about the format is new on exam day.
What has not been released
The date sheet for the 2027 board examinations has not been announced. Until the board publishes it on its own site, any circulating timetable is a guess. Class 10 and 12 examinations are ordinarily held between February and April.
