FMGE October 2026: test cities go up on 20 October, and NBEMS gives you until 11:55 pm on 21 October to fix a rejected photo or document

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued a notice, dated 19 October 2026, with three changes for candidates of the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), October 2026. Test cities are being shown from 20 October, the last date to fix a rejected image has moved from 19 to 21 October, and deficient documents must also be fixed by 11:55 pm on 21 October.

What changed on 19 October

  • Test city: the bulletin said the allotted city would be emailed on 20 October. NBEMS now says the city will not be sent by email or SMS. You have to log in at natboard.edu.in to see it.
  • Images: the selective edit window for a photograph, signature or thumb impression that did not meet the rules ran from 3 to 19 October. It has been extended to 11:55 pm on 21 October, through the Image Scrutiny Portal in your login.
  • Documents: the Document Scrutiny Portal stays open until 11:55 pm on 21 October. It is visible only to candidates who have been asked to submit something.

No admit card without a clean application

NBEMS repeats that only candidates holding both the Eligibility Certificate (where it applies) and the provisional pass certificate or degree certificate of their primary medical qualification will be allowed to sit the exam. Anyone who does not fix a flagged image or document by the deadline will be declared ineligible, and admit cards will not be issued to them. The notice says no further opportunity will be given.

Your test centre will be in one of the four cities you chose, but the bulletin says NBEMS can place you anywhere in the country if those cities are full, and requests to change the city or centre are not accepted. Check the city on 20 October so you can book travel early.

What to do now

  1. Log in at natboard.edu.in and note your test city.
  2. Open the Image Scrutiny and Document Scrutiny tabs. If either shows a deficiency, fix it before 11:55 pm on Wednesday, 21 October. A replacement can be rejected again, so do not leave it to the last hour.
  3. Download your admit card from 27 October.

The exam has 300 questions in two parts of 150 each, and you need 150 out of 300 to pass. Our earlier story covered the original edit window, and our FMGE 2026 guide explains the exam for students who studied MBBS abroad.

For queries, NBEMS candidate care is on 011-45593000.
