IGNOU extends its December exam form to 7 October with no late fee
IGNOU has pushed the last date for the December 2026 term-end exam form to 7 October without a late fee. From 8 to 15 October the form is still accepted, but costs an extra ₹1,100. Project and practical fees go through a separate link.
Indira Gandhi National Open University has extended the deadline for the December 2026 term-end examination form for both ODL and Online programmes. The notification is dated 30 September 2026 and was issued by the Student Evaluation Division.
The revised dates
| Window | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Until 7 October 2026 | No late fee |
| 8 October to 15 October 2026 | ₹1,100 late fee on top of the exam fee |
Before the extension, the no-late-fee window had been 10 to 30 September, and the late-fee window 1 to 15 October. So only the free window has moved; 15 October remains the final date.
What to know before you fill it
- The online form covers theory courses only. Project, internship and practical courses are paid for separately, through a link in the Samarth login of eligible learners.
- For students admitted up to the December 2022 cycle, the fee is ₹200 per theory course.
- The December exams, for pen-and-paper and computer-based modes, are likely to begin from 25 November. IGNOU calls its date sheet tentative, so treat that as provisional.
- Your course registration must still be valid and not time-barred, and your required assignments must have been submitted on time where your programme demands them.
- You can name an exam centre, and IGNOU says it will try to give you one, but it reserves the right to move you; if your preferred centre is full, choose the nearest one under the same regional centre.
- The university may reschedule or cancel papers at any centre or in any state.
Practical tip
Submit the form while the free window is open. A student with four theory courses pays ₹800 in exam fees; missing 7 October adds ₹1,100, which is more than the fees themselves. After submitting, download the confirmation and keep your enrolment number handy for the hall-ticket stage.
Improving your division on a past result is a different route: IGNOU says that is applied for offline, at the concerned section, within six months of printing your marksheet.
