Maharashtra’s 2027 board exams: Class 12 from 8 February, Class 10 from 15 February

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has released tentative dates for the 2027 board examinations in September 2026, which is unusually early and deliberately so. The board said the point is to let schools, junior colleges and students plan the year and cut down exam-season panic.

Class 12 (HSC)

• Theory papers: 8 February to 16 March 2027
• Practicals and internal assessments: 20 January to 6 February 2027

Class 10 (SSC)

• Theory papers: 15 February to 11 March 2027
• Practicals and internal assessments: 28 January to 13 February 2027

How to use a date this early

Work backwards from the practical window, not the theory one. For a Class 12 science student the calendar effectively starts on 20 January, three weeks before the first written paper, and journal work, viva preparation and submissions all land inside the same weeks as the last revision cycle. Students sitting a competitive entrance test in the same season should map both calendars onto one page now, while there is still time to move coaching or mock tests out of the collision.

These are the window dates, not the paper-by-paper timetable. The subject-wise schedule comes separately, and the board has called the present dates tentative. Treat them as the frame for planning, and check the official timetable when it is published before booking anything that cannot be moved.
