MCC round 3 provisional result: 4,685 fresh seats and 5,168 upgrades — reporting runs to 9 October
MCC published the provisional result for round 3 of NEET UG counselling on 30 September. Counting the remarks in the 1,920-page list gives 4,685 fresh allotments, 5,168 upgrades and 5,018 retained seats. Grievances closed at 10 am on 1 October; do not report until the final result.
The Medical Counselling Committee released the provisional result of round 3 of UG counselling 2026 on 30 September. It covers the all-India quota and the seats of deemed and central universities, AIIMS, JIPMER and others for MBBS, BDS and B.Sc. Nursing. The PDF runs to 1,920 pages and lists 40,457 candidates.
What the list shows
These figures come from counting the remark against each candidate in the published list. They are provisional, like the list itself.
| Remark in the list | Candidates |
|---|---|
| Fresh allotment in round 3 | 4,685 |
| Upgraded to a better seat | 5,168 |
| Retained the seat they already held | 5,018 |
| Did not opt for upgradation | 15,595 |
| Did not fill fresh choices | 7,970 |
| Not allotted | 2,010 |
- Of the 4,685 fresh allotments, 4,067 are MBBS, 531 BDS and 87 B.Sc. Nursing.
- By seat category, they include 3,124 open, 644 OBC, 430 SC, 208 EWS and 180 ST seats, plus 99 seats allotted under PwD sub-categories.
The rule behind "did not fill fresh choices"
In round 3, choices from earlier rounds are void. Anyone who wanted a new seat had to submit fresh choices, and 7,970 entries carry that remark. If you are one of them, check your seat status on the candidate login rather than assuming the worst or the best.
What to do now
- MCC's notice of 30 September allowed discrepancies to be raised on the grievance system until 10 am on 1 October.
- The provisional result is "only indicative" and cannot be challenged in court. MCC tells candidates to approach the allotted college only after the final result.
- If your category or quota changed within the same college and course, you need a fresh online-generated admission letter, or the seat is cancelled.
What comes next, per the schedule
MCC's schedule of 14 September gives 1 to 9 October for round-3 reporting and 10 October for institutes to verify joined candidates. The online stray vacancy round follows: registration 12 to 14 October (payment till 3 pm on 14 October), choice filling until 10 am on 15 October, result on 17 October, reporting 19 to 26 October.
Seats left after round 3 feed the stray round. Candidates holding a seat they dislike should weigh that before deciding to resign.
