Gujarat Police bharti 2026: what is open and what is finished

The 13,591 posts: unarmed PSI 659, armed PSI 129, jailer 70, unarmed constable 6,942, armed constable 2,458, jail sepoy 331 and SRPF constable 3,002. That is 858 PSI-cadre and 12,733 Lokrakshak-cadre posts. Of the total, 1,359 posts are reserved for ex-servicemen.

Gujarat Police constable result: where the Lokrakshak recruitment stands

The Lokrakshak steps so far:

1. Physical test: held from 21 January 2026 at 15 centres in Gujarat. The result was published on 2 April 2026.
2. Written exam: held on 14 June 2026, a Sunday. The provisional answer key came on 20 June, the final key on 8 July 2026, and marks on 11 July 2026.
3. Document-check list: published on 14 August 2026. Of 39,225 candidates who scored 40% in both parts, 18,322 qualified for document checks for 12,733 posts.
4. Disqualification: on 8 September 2026 the board disqualified 385 candidates for malpractice found in CCTV review, and gave them until 14 September 2026 to make a representation.

The 14 August cut-offs for the document-check list, which are marks including any bonus marks:

All 41 ex-servicemen who met the 40% rule were included. More candidates may be called later if needed. We found no document-check dates and no final or provisional selection list for the Lokrakshak cadre on the board's site on 21 October 2026. Check the board's Latest Update list and download your call letter from OJAS when it is issued.

For the PSI cadre, the physical test result came on 25 February 2026, main exam Paper 1 was held on 19 April 2026 (final key 17 May, marks 19 May), and on 29 June 2026 the board listed who gets Paper 2 checked. A final list is not on the board's site.

New Lokrakshak bharti: what the board has said

On 29 August 2026 the board posted a "New Job Alert" for the Lokrakshak cadre. It said:

• About 3,000 posts: 1,000 unarmed constable, 1,000 armed constable and 1,000 SRPF. The government is considering increasing the number.
• Education: Class 12 pass, or an equivalent exam recognised by the Gujarat General Administration Department.
• Advertisement likely: September or October 2026.
• Physical test likely to start: December 2026 or January 2027.
• Written exam likely: March or April 2027.
• Running standard to qualify: men 5,000 metres in 25 minutes, women 1,600 metres in 9 minutes 30 seconds, ex-servicemen 2,400 metres in 12 minutes 30 seconds.

These are the board's own estimated timings, not fixed dates. As of 21 October 2026 the advertisement is not on the board's website, so the application dates, fee and age cut-off date for the new drive are not announced.

Gujarat Police bharti eligibility: age, education and relaxations

These rules are from advertisement GPRB/202526/1 and its FAQ. The new drive may differ, so read its advertisement when it appears.

Education

• PSI (unarmed, armed) and Jailer Group-2: a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The FAQ says qualifications are counted on the last date to apply.
• Lokrakshak (constable, SRPF, jail sepoy): Class 12 pass or equivalent.
• Computers and language: basic computer knowledge (the FAQ says a CCC certificate is not needed) and working Gujarati or Hindi.

Age (on the last date to apply, 23 December 2025 for the current drive)

• PSI cadre: maximum 35 years (born on or after 23 December 1990).
• Lokrakshak cadre: 18 to 33 years (born between 23 December 1992 and 23 December 2007).

Relaxations in the upper age limit

• SC, ST, SEBC and EWS men: 5 years.
• All women: 5 years. Women in reserved categories: 10 years in total.
• Sportspersons: a further 5 years. Ex-servicemen: length of service plus extra relief. Nobody else can be above 45.
• Reserved-category benefits go only to candidates originally from Gujarat. Others apply as general.
• SEBC and EWS candidates must hold the right non-creamy-layer or EWS certificate, issued by the last date to apply, and enter its number and date in the form.

Bonus marks: an NCC "C" certificate adds 2 marks. A one-year or longer diploma or degree from the Rashtriya Raksha University or the National Forensic Sciences University adds up to 15 marks in the PSI cadre and up to 10 in the Lokrakshak cadre. Widows and sportspersons get 5% of their exam marks added for selection preference. There is no reservation for disabled candidates in this drive, and no waiting list.

Physical test standards: height, chest and running time

The physical test is the first stage. It is qualifying only: running marks are not counted, you only have to pass. It is the same test for PSI and Lokrakshak, so a candidate who applied for both runs once.

The advertisement sets no weight standard. It does list physical defects that make a candidate unfit, including knock knee, pigeon chest, squint, flat feet, varicose veins, fractured limb, decayed teeth, colour blindness and communicable skin disease. Colour blindness does not apply to jail sepoys. The FAQ says tattoos, spectacles or broken teeth do not stop you applying, but you must pass the medical test before appointment.

Written exam pattern and syllabus

Lokrakshak cadre: one paper of 200 multiple-choice questions, 200 marks, 3 hours, in Gujarati.

You must score at least 40% in Part A and Part B separately, and merit is made on the total out of 200.

PSI cadre main exam: 300 marks over two papers. Paper 1 is general studies, 200 MCQs in two parts of 100 each (reasoning and quantitative aptitude; Constitution, history, geography, current affairs, science and economics), 3 hours. Paper 2 is descriptive, 100 marks, 3 hours, in Gujarati (essay, precis, comprehension, report, letter) and English (precis, comprehension, translation).

Both: each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. Each question has an "E" option for "not attempted", which costs nothing. Leaving every option blank is treated as wrong. There is no interview. The exam is offline.

PSI (Wireless) and Technical Operator: a 200-question, 200-mark, 3-hour paper. Part A (80 questions) covers reasoning, maths, Constitution and current affairs. Part B (120 questions) is electronics and communication topics, listed in the board's syllabus notice. The degree needed is a four-year BE or BTech in electronics, IT or computer streams. Upper age is 35.

Gujarat Police salary

The board pays a fixed monthly amount during a contract period, then moves selected candidates to the regular pay scale after satisfactory training and service.

Selected candidates must also get a light or heavy vehicle driving licence. Pay can change if the government sets other allowances.

How to apply on OJAS

Applications for a Gujarat Police drive open only when the board publishes an advertisement. Apply only at ojas.gujarat.gov.in. The steps in the current advertisement:

1. Read the advertisement and instructions on gprb.gujarat.gov.in or OJAS before you fill the form.
2. On OJAS, open the board's advertisement and choose PSI Cadre, Lokrakshak Cadre or Both.
3. Enter your details. Category, date of birth and qualification cannot be changed later.
4. Upload a recent colour passport photo and a clear signature, each a JPG under 15 KB.
5. Confirm the form and keep a printout. You cannot edit after you confirm.
6. General-category candidates pay online: ₹100 for PSI cadre, ₹100 for Lokrakshak, ₹200 for both, plus bank charges. EWS, SC, ST, SEBC and ex-servicemen pay no fee. The fee is not refunded.
7. Download your call letter from OJAS for the physical test, written exam and document check.

If you apply more than once, only the last confirmed application counts.
