SBI Foundation is the CSR arm of the State Bank of India. Its Asha Scholarship is open to Indian students from Class 9 up to postgraduate study abroad, and applying is free and fully online. This guide is built only from SBI Foundation's own pages, as read on 20 October 2026: the Asha Scholarship page on sbifoundation.in and the application portal it links to, sbiashascholarship.co.in.
Key takeaways
- Status on 20 October 2026: applications for 2026-27 are closed. The portal says: "Applications for 2026-27 are now closed."

SBI Asha Scholarship 2026 last date
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Applications open | 22 July 2026 |
| Fresh applications close | 19 September 2026, 11:59 pm IST |
| Renewals (2025-26 scholars) close | 30 September 2026, 11:59 pm IST |
| Shortlisting, interview video, document check | After the window; no dates published |
| 2026-27 result | Not announced; portal says about six months after the last date (tentative) |
Two official pages disagree on the deadline. The SBI Foundation page still lists 4 September 2026 as the application deadline. The application portal lists 19 September 2026, and the live settings the portal loads show fresh applications closing at 11:59 pm IST on 19 September and renewals at 11:59 pm IST on 30 September. The later portal date is the one that applied in practice. Either way, the window has passed: once a deadline passes, the portal says, an application "can no longer be started, continued or submitted".
If you are reading this for 2027-28, SBI Foundation has not announced the next cycle. The 2026-27 form opened in late July, so keep an eye on sbiashascholarship.co.in from around mid-2027.

These are the figures on each category's eligibility card on both sbifoundation.in and the portal, marked "T&C applied". One short summary block on the portal's landing page quotes higher PG (₹2,50,000) and Medical (₹4,50,000) figures; the detailed category cards on both official sites say ₹1,50,000 and ₹2,00,000, so we use those. Ask SBI Foundation if the exact sum matters to your plans.
The amounts are "up to" figures, not fixed awards. SBI Foundation says it "strives to extend its financial support to students throughout their course", with renewal each year only if you still meet the minimum criteria.

SBI Asha Scholarship eligibility
For every track:
- You must be an Indian national.
- You need 75% marks or 7.5 CGPA in your previous academic year. SC and ST applicants get a 10% relaxation (65%, or CGPA 6.5); PwBD applicants get 15% (60%, or CGPA 6.0).
- Family income must be within the limit: ₹3 lakh a year for school students, ₹6 lakh for UG, PG, Medical, IIT, IIM and Overseas.
- Half of all slots are reserved for female students across SC, ST, OBC and General. The portal also lists 25% for SC, 25% for ST and 5% for PwBD applicants.
Track by track:
- School: studying in Class 9, 10, 11 or 12 in the current year. Government-school students who pay no fees can upload a school letter confirming enrolment and no-fee status instead of a fee receipt.
- UG and PG: any year of a degree at an institution in the latest NIRF Top 300, or one accredited NAAC "A" or above.
- Medical: MBBS only, at an AIIMS or a Top 50 NIRF medical college, with a valid NEET scorecard. The portal says BDS, B.Sc Nursing, B.Pharm and other undergraduate students should apply under UG.
- IIT: studying at one of the 23 IITs, with a valid JEE Advanced scorecard. B.Tech students at non-IIT colleges apply under UG.
- IIM: studying at one of the 22 IIMs, with a valid CAT scorecard.
- Overseas: pursuing, or holding an offer for, a postgraduate or higher programme at a QS World University Rankings Top 200 university, with a valid GRE, GMAT, MCAT, LNAT or LSAT score. The portal's summary describes this track as "Overseas Studies (SC/ST)" and its document list marks a caste certificate "SC/ST mandatory", so treat it as meant for SC and ST students.
Not eligible: diploma students. SBI Foundation's FAQ says the scholarship covers only Classes 9 to 12 and eligible UG and PG courses.
Documents needed for the SBI Asha Scholarship
The exact list depends on your category. SBI Foundation's common list:
- Academic records: marksheets for the previous and latest year (Class 10, Class 12 or semester marksheets). School applicants upload their Class 8 and latest marksheets. First-year UG students re-upload the Class 12 marksheet; first-year PG students re-upload the graduation marksheet.
- Identity proof: Aadhaar or another government photo ID, and a recent passport-size photograph.
- Income proof: an income certificate for financial year 2025-26 from a competent government authority, or Form 16A or salary slips. Orphans or families with no income can use the portal's declaration template, signed and stamped by the right authority.
- Admission proof: bonafide certificate or admission letter, plus the latest fee receipt or fee structure.
- Bank passbook: any bank's passbook is accepted when you apply (the portal says "SBI preferred"). Shortlisted students must have an active SBI account in their own name before the money is paid.
- Personal documents: caste certificate for reserved categories and a photograph of your home or family.
- Extra papers by track: NEET, JEE Advanced or CAT scorecard; for Overseas, the offer letter, GRE or similar score and an IELTS or TOEFL scorecard; a disability certificate if you claim PwBD relaxation.
Most uploads accept PDF, JPG or PNG up to 2 MB. The portal's update screen stresses that your form and documents must match exactly: name, date of birth, marks and income.

Selection process and SBI Asha Scholarship result
SBI Foundation's FAQ describes three stages:
- Shortlisting on academic merit and financial background.
- Interview: the FAQ mentions a telephonic interview; the portal's status page says shortlisted candidates "are evaluated and invited to submit their interview video".
- Document verification, then the final decision.
Track your stage by logging in to the portal dashboard. Results are emailed to your registered address and posted on the portal. The portal says "evaluation and disbursement typically take about 6 months from the last date of application (tentative)". Counting from 19 September 2026, that would be around March 2027, but SBI Foundation has published no 2026-27 result date.
2025-26 result: the awardee lists for 2025-26 are now on sbifoundation.in. The PDFs, created on 7 October 2026, list 20,000 school awardees, 1,700 UG, 1,010 PG, 200 MBBS, 211 IIT and 100 IIM awardees, counting renewals. On 20 October 2026, the page still showed the 2025-26 Overseas result as "Result Not Announced Yet". Open the "Student Results" section of the SBI Foundation Asha page and search the PDF for your category by your User Code.
